EV In India: Assam can achieve 100 percent electric three wheeler sales by 2025. In this way, Assam will become the first state in the country to achieve this feat. This has been concluded in the study of a top US university.
A study by the India ZEV Research Center at the University of California Davis said that in the current fiscal year till January 2023, 85 per cent of newly sold three-wheelers in Assam were electric. It is among the three states to achieve this high level figure in any one segment. The other two are Uttarakhand and Chandigarh.

The study says that at the current pace, Assam will probably achieve 100 per cent electric three-wheeler sales by 2025. It will be the first state not only in the country but also in the world to achieve such a feat. Importantly, after recovering from the pandemic, the sale of electric three-wheelers continues to boom in Assam.
More than 25 states in India have now announced their electric vehicle policy. Under the policy, these states are giving subsidy on the purchase of electric vehicles. Apart from this, they are also giving incentives for tax benefits and charging structure.
