The group led by Asia’s richest man Gautam Adani said in a statement that Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL) has entered into an agreement to start a pilot project for the development of hydrogen-powered trucks for mining logistics and transportation. This agreement has been made with Ashok Leyland and Ballard Power.

The partnership will see the development of Asia’s first hydrogen-powered mining truck. The project will be led by Adani Enterprises while Canadian company Ballard Power will supply the hydrogen-powered engines. Ashok Leyland, the world’s leading manufacturer of commercial vehicles, will provide the platform and technical support for this truck.
Adani Group said that there is a plan to introduce this hydrogen-powered mining truck in India only in the year 2023. Vinay Prakash, Director of AEL and CEO of Adani Natural Resources, said that this ambitious green hydrogen project is a strong determination towards India’s future energy self-reliance.
