Govinda Bandi, an advocate, has been appointed Minister of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari appointed Bandi (Govinda Prasad Sharma) as Law Minister based on Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s recommendation.
Bandi has been nominated to succeed incumbent Law Minister Dilendra Prasad Badu.
Former Law Minister Badu has been named Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies.
Meanwhile, because Bandi is a non-parliamentarian, he has six months to become a member of the federal parliament.
It should be noted that when then-Prime Minister KP Oli dissolved the House of Representatives, advocate Bandi argued in favor of the opposition.
He was also instrumental in the ratification of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact.
Bandi was also a key player in the preparation of the 12-point interpretative declaration that was required by MCC.
