The economic plight of Pakistan is affecting the physical and mental health of the people there. Distressed by unemployment and poverty, a man poisoned his three daughters and consumed poison himself. In this incident, one of the man’s daughters lost his life. On Tuesday, the police arrested the man and a case of murder and attempt to murder has been registered against him for poisoning his daughters.
The ages of the three daughters are seven, 10 and 14 years. Due to the effect of poison, the eldest daughter died in the hospital itself.
According to a report in Pakistan’s The Express Tribune, the case is of Raiwind City outside Lahore. The man was reportedly troubled by unemployment and inflation. He was going through mental stress. The person says that due to rising inflation and lack of money, he was not able to meet the needs of his family.
The victim’s mother told the police that her husband had dropped her and her two sons at their maternal home and said that he would come back in a while and pick them up. After this the man went to his home with his three daughters. The woman knew that her husband was mentally disturbed.
When he did not return within half an hour as said, his wife got worried about her daughters and started returning home. But in the middle of the way, her husband came to pick her up with a bike.
She told the police, ‘When I reached home, I saw that my 10-year-old daughter was vomiting. When I inquired, the daughters told that the father had forced them to consume poisonous pills.
According to reports, seeing the poor condition of the three girls, when the woman raised an alarm, her husband also consumed poison out of fear. Everyone’s condition started deteriorating in no time. Everyone was immediately taken to the hospital where the elder daughter of the woman died. The remaining two girls and their father were saved.
The man has been booked under charges of murder and attempt to murder and an FIR has been registered at Raiwind City Police Station.
