New Delhi: The Indian Army needs jet pack suits. For which the Army has issued a Request for Proposal. This suit can be flown by tying it in the back. This jet pack suit was displayed at a trade show in Chicago about three months ago. It runs on a gas turbine engine and through this a person can fly up to 10 to 15 meters high in the air. Often you must have seen this type of suit in the movie. The Army has said it needs 48 jet pack suits. It will be bought from Indian vendors. It is a one-of-a-kind individual mobility platform that can fly one across different terrains.
The weight of this system should not exceed 40 kg. According to the army, it should have the feature of safe take off, flight and landing. It can be a turbine engine, electric or hybrid system. Its speed should be at least 50 kilometers per hour and flight time should be at least 8 minutes. It can operate from minus 10 to plus 45 degrees. It can work in desert area as well as in high altitude. It should be able to lift at least 80 kg load.
The Indian Army also needs a robotic mule that can be used to transport essential supplies to soldiers in difficult geographical conditions. At present, the army uses mules in many places, which are part of animal transport. Army is stationed at many such places where there is no way to reach and one has to reach here through rough terrain. The Army is also promoting the use of drones to deliver supplies to soldiers in difficult terrain and is now in the process of getting a robotic mule. Army has issued RFP i.e. Request for Proposal for this. The army currently has to buy 100 robotic mules.
The army will take it from indigenous companies only. According to the army, the self life of a robotic mule should not be less than 10 years. Along with the robotic mule, the company will also have to provide accessories related to it, as well as training to operate it. Explaining its need, the Army has said that it should be a four-legged robot that can move in different terrains. It should have self recovery capability. It can cross any obstacle by itself. It can walk on rough places. Its length, width and height should not exceed 1 meter. The weight of a robotic mule should not exceed 60 kg. It should be capable of operating at an altitude of 4000 metres. It should be able to operate in autonomous mode as well as climb stairs at least 5 inches high. Through the command and control station, it can go automatically on a pre-defined route ie pre-defined mission route.
