Letang Curfew: The local administration has imposed a curfew following the death of a police officer in a clash at Letang in Morang district over an incident of sexual abuse.
The Morang District Administration Office has imposed a curfew in the Letang Municipality-5 Kheruwa area beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday and lasting until further notice.
Sharad Kumar Pokhrel, Assistant Chief District Officer, has urged people not to defy the order.
A teacher sexually abused a sixth-grade student, who was later released on bail.
Manoj Poudel, 56, a teacher at Shiksha Vikas Madhyamik Vidyalaya in Letang Municipality-5, is accused of sexually abusing a seventh-grade student.
Similarly, police constable Urmila Shrestha was stabbed in the neck, according to Navin Kumar Rai, the State Police Office’s spokesperson.
She was rushed to Koshi Provincial Hospital but later died.
The incident injured 25 people, including Morang Police Chief Superintendent of Police (SP) Janardan GC. In addition, seven locals were injured.
