Mahindra & Mahindra recently introduced the two-wheel drive variant of the Mahindra Thar in the domestic market at a starting price of just Rs 9.99 lakh. Now the company is preparing to launch the new 5-door version of its famous offroading SUV. Before the launch, this SUV has been spotted during testing, although this SUV was camouflage cover, but despite this, all the information related to the exterior and interior of the vehicle has come to the fore.
The video of the five door variant of the new Mahindra Thar has been uploaded by the YouTube channel ‘The Car Show’. According to media reports, on the lines of Mahindra Thar’s three-door model, the company will provide two-wheel drive system in its 5-door model as well. It is being told that this SUV will be launched in the market with 2.2 liter diesel and 2.0 liter petrol engines. Both these engines will come with manual and automatic gearboxes. Multiple powertrain configurations will offer a host of options to the customers of this off-roading SUV.
The interior of the vehicle spotted testing is missing the (4X4) lever, indicating that the 5-door version will be offered in a two-wheel/real wheel (4X2) drive variant as well. Will be done. The biggest advantage of including a real wheel drive variant in the five door version is that it will help in keeping the cost of the vehicle low. However, the 5-door version will not enter the sub-four meter segment, nor will it be powered by the smaller 1.5-litre diesel engine, as found in the three-door variant. Since the size will be big then it will not get tax benefits.

However, no information has been received about the engine and power output of Thar 5 Door. The SUV will share the ladder-frame chassis of the Mahindra Scorpio, so it is likely that the engine will be tuned similarly.
There will be a big change in the exterior of this SUV. It is also likely to get completely new body panels. After the addition of two more doors, it is possible that the length of its wheelbase will increase by 300 mm. But the company will keep its signature styling design as before. Considering the craze among the customers regarding Thar in the market, its design will be kept largely similar to the three-door model.
The company can keep its interior largely similar to the current model, although some new features will definitely be added to it. It is expected to get a new infotainment system, front center armrest, sun gloss holder etc., which are not seen in the current three-door. Due to the longer wheelbase, you can expect better space in the second row.
When will it be launched:
Although no official information has been shared about the launch of this offroading SUV, but it is believed that the company will launch it in the market this year. Mahindra usually launches vehicles on big occasions, like the next generation Thar was launched on 2nd October 2020, so it is possible that a similar date may be chosen for its five door version as well. Well, this is just a speculation and official confirmation about its launch is yet to be done.
