After holding the party’s eight-day 8th General Convention at Pragya Bhawan in Kathmandu, the CPN-Maoist Center held its first central committee meeting on Monday at Heritage Plaza in Sanepa Lalitpur.
The first meeting of the Central Committee has been scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday in Sanepa, Lalitpur after the Central Committee was chosen in the last hour of the general convention on Sunday.
The eighth national general convention, which had been convened since December 26 at Pragya Pratisthan in Kamaladi, the capital, closed late on Sunday.
After Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda‘ read out the names of the Central Committee members, declaring they were chosen by unanimity, the party’s gala celebration came to a close.
Prachanda had been tasked by the party’s general convention to compile a list of central committee members.
Chairman Dahal read the names of 236 central members out of 299 total. In the next days, the remaining 63 members will be nominated.
This afternoon, at 3 p.m., the 236 central members will convene for the first time.
