The election results of 19 municipal bodies of Madhya Pradesh have been declared. In the elections held on 6 municipalities and 13 municipal councils, the BJP won 11 bodies. On the other hand, the Congress has captured eight municipal bodies. The Congress won in Raghogarh, the stronghold of former Madhya Pradesh CM and Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh.
In the elections held on Friday, where 183 councilors of BJP have won, 143 candidates of Congress have won. In the 24-member municipality of Digvij Singh’s stronghold Raghogarh, 16 councilors of the Congress and eight of the BJP won the elections. State Election Commission Secretary Rakesh Singh said that in the elections held in 19 municipal bodies of five districts, 183 seats were won by the BJP, 143 by the Congress and the remaining seats were won by independent candidates.
Elections were held for 343 wards
More than 5 lakh voters cast their votes in 19 urban bodies of Madhya Pradesh. These bodies include 6 municipalities and 13 city councils. There are 343 wards of these 19 bodies. A total of 720 polling stations were set up for voting. One thousand 144 candidates were in the fray in 19 civic bodies.
Where were the elections held?
Elections were held in Municipal Council Raghogarh-Vijaypur in Guna district, Barwani and Sendhwa in Barwani district, Dhar, Manawar and Pithampur municipalities in Dhar district. Apart from this, elections were held in Jaithari Municipal Council of Anuppur district, Omkareshwar of Khandwa district, Khetiya and Pansemal, Palsud, Rajpur and Anjad of Barwani district, Municipal Council Dharampuri, Dhamnod Kukshi, Rajgarh, Sardarpur and Dahi Municipal Council of Dhar district.
