Special Correspondent, New Delhi: Soumyadeep is a quiet boy sitting on a wheelchair. Example of bravery. At the age of just 13, Soumyadeep put his life on the line to save the lives of his mother, father and younger sister. Terrorist attack foiled. But he himself got injured. He got shot. Life was saved after 5 surgeries, but he is still on a wheelchair.

The ability to hear is gone. Doesn’t even show up properly. Paralyzed. He can neither talk nor stand properly. Father is proud of Soumyadeep, who was awarded the National Brewery Award in 2020. However, seeing the condition of the child, their pain also overflows. He is worried that how will the rest of Soumyadeep’s life be spent? What would he do? Who will bear his burden?

The incident is of February 10, 2018. Haripad Jaina of West Bengal was posted in Jammu. Was a personal assistant in the army. The letter of transfer had come. Had packed the luggage for the shift. Suddenly heard the sound of firing at quarter to five in the morning. The house was in the firing range, so it seemed normal. But the firing was increasing towards them. He reached the door. Soumyadeep hid in another room with his sister and mother. There were three terrorists. They started firing at the gate. Tried a lot, but the first door broke. Haripad hid under the bed. One terrorist stayed at the gate, another stood near the bed and the third went towards the room where the rest of the family were.

The third terrorist tried hard, fired, but the gate did not open. Soumyadeep had blocked the gate with all the stuff. The terrorist also hit the grenade along with the bullet. After some time blood came out of the room. The terrorist thought that the man inside was dead. He’s gone. Due to the bravery of Soumyadeep, the terrorists took a long time. The army reached and the terrorists were also killed.
