Nepal Authorities have prohibited mass gatherings in Kathmandu Valley public spaces.
A joint meeting of the Chief District Officers (CDOs) of the Kathmandu Valley’s three districts on Tuesday voted to limit gatherings of more than 25 individuals in public locations throughout the valley.
Umakanta Adhikari, Assistant Chief District Officer in Kathmandu, said the ruling would take effect at midnight today.
Authorities have also encouraged people to avoid staging events, fairs, festivals, and political rallies due to the potential of COVID19.
From January 21, the authorities also made vaccination cards required for entry into public areas like hotels, restaurants, public offices, airports, cinema halls, and stadiums, among others.
Similarly, the immunization card will be required to get government services from valley district offices.
Furthermore, officials have planned to provide vaccinations to children aged 16 to 17 by setting up vaccination booths in several locations within a week. They requested that the District Public Health Office (DPHO) communicate with local levels and establish an action plan to administer immunizations to schoolchildren within a week.
Hospitals and health care facilities have been advised to prepare the infrastructure needed to deal with a probable inflow of COVID-19 patients. Chiefs of government offices where people tend to congregate are tasked with managing service delivery by, among other things, adopting health and safety procedures.
Similarly, industries have been asked to ensure the adoption of health and safety requirements in their operations.
The judgments are subject to scrutiny by security agencies, and if they are found to be in violation, action will be taken in accordance with the Infectious Diseases Act of 2020.
