The increasing cases of Norovirus in Kerala has put the state government in worry. Earlier only two cases were reported, now 19 students have been infected with norovirus in Ernakulam. The school administration has been troubled by so many students getting infected with this virus. Taking precautions, classes have been started in online mode from first to fifth grade. The state government is going to take many more steps at its level.

For information, let us tell you that the first case of norovirus in Kerala came to the fore in November 2021. Then 13 students of a Veterinary College in Wayanad were found infected with this virus. Vomiting and diarrhea are the main symptoms of this virus. A person can be infected with norovirus several times in their lifetime. Because there are many types of it. Vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain and nausea are its main symptoms. Sometimes the patient may also complain of fever, headache and body ache. If infected with this virus, there may be a burning sensation in the stomach or intestines. Its symptoms start appearing 12 to 48 hours after getting infected. In one to three days, relief also starts coming from it.
How does it spread, what is the solution?
It is important to understand here that norovirus can spread through spoiled food and water. On the other hand, if there is a lot of dirt around, sewage is not cleaned, even then there is a danger of spreading norovirus. Coming in contact with a person infected with norovirus also increases the risk of getting infected. Doctors tell that if someone gets infected with norovirus then they should drink more water during the day. The reason for this is that the problem of dehydration increases in a person infected with this virus. It has also been told that this virus can take a more deadly form in young children. On the other hand, if someone is already suffering from some disease, the symptoms may be more visible in them.
