New Delhi. The final nomination list of Oscar Award 2023 i.e. 95th Academy Award has been released. Filmmaker SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ created history by bagging an Oscar nomination in the Best Original Song category with ‘Naatu Naatu’. At the same time, India’s documentary feature films ‘All That Breathes’ and ‘The Elephant Whispers’ have also earned nominations. This time three Indian films are in the race for the Oscar award. On the other hand, the films ‘Chello Show’, ‘Kantara’ and ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ have suffered a major setback. All these films are out of the Oscar race. Which Indian films were left out of the final nomination list?
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ is included. Alia Bhatt played a memorable character in the main lead of this film. At the same time, Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘The Kashmir Files’, which was in the most controversies last year, has also come out. Rishabh Shetty’s Kannada film ‘Kantara’, which was made in just 16 crores and earned 400 crores, also flopped. On the other hand, the official entry from India was left behind in the last race of nomination in ‘Chello Show’.

Oscar award hopes for the song ‘Naatu Naatu’
India’s official entry ‘The Last Show’ failed to make it to the final five in the International Feature category. While the Golden Globe Award winning song ‘Natu Natu’ was sung by ‘Applause’ from ‘Tell It Like a Woman’, ‘Hold My Hand’ from ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, ‘Lift’ from ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ Me Up” and “Everything Everywhere All at Once” received nominations with “This is a Life”. The song ‘Natu-Natu’ has been picturized on South’s superstar Ram Charan and Junior NTR. This is the third major international achievement for ‘Naatu Naatu’ composed by MM Keeravani. Keeravani won the Golden Globe as well as the Critics’ Choice Award for the song earlier this month.

‘All That Breathes’ hopes for Oscars after BAFTAs
India’s documentary feature film ‘All That Breathes’ has also made it to the final nomination list. The documentary feature film, directed by Shaunak Sen, has received nominations in the Best Documentary Feature category along with ‘All the Beauty and the Bloodshed’, ‘Fire of Love’, ‘A House Made of Splinters’ and ‘Navalni’. Made in Delhi, this feature film is based on two brothers, Mohammad Saud and Nadeem Shahzad, who have dedicated their lives to rescuing and treating injured birds, especially black eagles. Sen has expressed his happiness on getting the nomination.

Last year, Indian feature documentary ‘Writing with Fire’ was part of the final Oscar nomination list in the documentary feature section, but lost to ‘Summer of Soul’. It was the first Indian documentary feature to be nominated for an Oscar Award.

Tamil documentary also rocked
Tamil documentary ‘The Elephant Whispers’ also earned a nomination in the Documentary Short Subject category. The documentary, directed by Kartiki Gonsalves, has been nominated in the category along with four other films ‘Hallout’, ‘How Do You Measure a Year?’, ‘The Martha Mitchell Effect’ and ‘Stranger at the Gate’. Earlier India’s ‘Smile Pinky’ and ‘Period. End of Sentence” has won the Oscar Award for Documentary Short Film. The winners of the Oscars will be announced on March 12.

‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ gets 11 Oscar nominations
Science fiction film ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ has received the maximum number of nominations. Apart from this, ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ and ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ have also made place in many categories. Everything Everywhere All at Once by Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan received 11 nominations. There are 10 films competing for the Best Film.
