New Delhi- Karisma Kapoor and Aamir Khan’s film ‘Raja Hindustani’ is one of the iconic films of Bollywood. Released in 1996, the film created a stir at the box-office. The script, acting, songs and costumes of this film were so amazing that even today the memories of this film are fresh in the hearts and minds of the audience. This film made Karishma Kapoor and Aamir Khan superstars overnight. But do you know that before Karisma Kapoor, this film was offered to three actresses. It was Karisma Kapoor’s luck that her sinking career got the support of this film.
Writer and director of ‘Raja Hindustani’, Dharmesh Darshan had revealed in an interview to Mumbai Mirror that Karisma Kapoor was not his first choice for the film ‘Raja Hindustani’. Dharmesh Darshan’s first choice for this film was Juhi Chawla. Earlier, Dharmesh had worked with Juhi Chawla in the film ‘Lootera’ and this film proved to be a blockbuster. But there was a rift between the producer of the film ‘Raja Hindustani’ and Juhi Chawla, due to which things could not be done with this actress.
Things did not work out with Pooja-Aishwarya as well.
After Juhi, Dharmesh had offered this film to his cousin and actress Pooja Bhatt, but things could not be done with Pooja Bhatt as well. After the film was rejected by two actresses, the producer and director of ‘Raja Hindustani’ wanted to cast ‘Miss India’ Aishwarya Rai in this film. Dharmesh Darshan had told that it was the suggestion of the film’s lead actor Aamir Khan that a new face should be cast in the film.
