Republic Day 2023: The country is celebrating the 74th anniversary of Republic Day today. On this occasion, on the path of duty, President Draupadi Murmu is taking salute from the contingent of the three armies. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the martyrs at the War Memorial. For the first time this year, an Egyptian military contingent also became a part of the parade. The parade is started with the salute of the President. But do you know that the way of saluting the Army, Navy and Air Force is different. Let us know what is the difference between all three.
Indian Army Salute: Indian Army i.e. Indian Army is saluted by showing the whole palm. While saluting, the whole claw of the hand is shown open towards the front. In this all the fingers remain open and the thumb remains between the head and the eyebrows. Army salute is a sign of trust and it proves that the soldier is saluting without any ill intention and he is not carrying any hidden weapon.
Indian Navy Salute: Indian Navy i.e. the salute of the Indian Navy is different from the salute of the Army. The palm is not visible in this. The hand is completely folded down. In this salute, the thumb remains on the forehead between the head and the eyebrows. The reason for this is that the hands of the soldiers working on the ship were often spoiled by oil stains and dirt. In such a situation, to avoid the disrespect of their seniors, the palms were saluted towards the ground, which further became a tradition.
Indian Air Force Salute: The salute of Indian Air Force i.e. Indian Air Force is similar to the first army, but in 2006 the Air Force decided a new way of saluting its soldiers. During the Navy Salute, an angle of 45 degrees is formed between the hand and the ground. While saluting, the Air Force shows its steps towards the sky.
