The Big Bash League (BBL) is currently being organized on Australian soil. In this episode, on Monday (January 23), a match was played between Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Sixers. In the match at Hobart’s Bellerive Oval, all eyes were on Steve Smith and he lived up to the expectations and scored 66 runs in 33 balls. During this, Smith hit six sixes and four fours. Earlier, Smith had played century innings on two consecutive occasions.
A surprising incident happened in the second over of the Sixers’ innings when 16 runs were scored on a legal ball. This incident happened on the third ball in the second over of the innings and at that time Steve Smith was on strike. Smith hit a six off Joel Paris, as well as a no-ball, due to which a total of seven runs were added. Paris then bowled a wide which went for a four in the final leg. That is, till now 12 runs had been scored and the second ball was not yet completed. The free-hit was sustained due to the wide and Smith sent the ball for fours. Smith also hit a four on the fourth ball of the over. If seen, a total of 21 runs were scored in that over.

Steve Smith had earlier scored an inning of 101 runs against the Adelaide Strikers. Then he scored an unbeaten 125 against Sydney Thunders. The current form of 33-year-old Smith is a matter of concern for Team India. In February-March, India has to play a four-match Test series against Australia where Smith can prove to be a headache for the Indian team. Anyway, Smith has a great record in Test cricket against India and he has so far scored eight centuries, three of which came in the last tour of India.
