Surya Nepal Challenge, the sixth event on the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2021-22, will be held at the Royal Nepal Golf Club (RNGC) in Kathmandu from April 19 to 22.
The tournament will be contested over 72 holes and will include 56 players. There will be 36 pros and 20 amateurs competing.
According to the organizers, after 36 holes, a cut would be implemented. The top 21 professionals, including ties (if any), and the top six amateurs, as well as those who make the professional cut, will advance to the final 36 holes. The golf course’s playing conditions have been improved in preparation for the competition.
To get used to the circumstances, the majority of the participants played a practice round on the course.
The prize pool for the event is Rs 545,000, with the winner receiving a cheque for Rs 100,000, second place receiving Rs 65,000, and third place receiving Rs 46,000.
Others in the top 21 will be awarded cash awards as well.
Bhuwan Nagarkoti, Jayram Shrestha, Sanjay Lama, Rabi Khadka, Ram Thapa, and last year’s amateur winner Subash Tamang are among the top contenders in the Surya Nepal Challenge this year.
Sukra Bahadur Rai, a well-known Nepali golfer, is now competing in the Indian professional golf tour.
“I am certain that the scoring from both professionals and amateurs would be low in the competition,” said Rabindra Man Shrestha, President of the Nepal Professional Golf Association (NGPA) and the RNGC. “I’d want to express my heartfelt gratitude to our sponsor for their unwavering support in the creation of the game.”
