It is claimed that in the whole of North India such a unique temple is only in Kashi. This temple located in Sampurnanand University of Varanasi was established two and a half decades ago. Prof. Mahendra Pandey, the administrator of Maa Vagdevi i.e. Maa Saraswati Temple and Head of the Department of Vedas of Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, told that on April 8, 1988, the construction of the temple was approved. Former Vice Chancellor Dr. Vibhuti Narayan Singh and former Vice Chancellor Venkatachalan had conceptualized the temple. After which the temple of Maa Vagdevi was built during the time of former Vice-Chancellor Pro Mandal Mishra. On May 27, 1998, the temple was completed and inaugurated and at the same time the responsibility of the temple was handed over to the university. At that time Uttar Pradesh’s Construction and Tourism Minister Kalraj Mishra and Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati and the then Vice Chancellor Mandal Mishra were present.

The temple could be completed. In this temple there are idols of twelve Saraswati ji, which in itself is not found anywhere else in North India. These twelve idols have different names too. In which Saraswati Devi, Kamalakshi Devi, Jaya Devi, Vijaya Devi, Sarangi Devi, Tumbari Devi, Bharti Devi, Sumangala Devi, Vidyadhari Devi, Sarvavidya Devi, Sharda Devi and Sridevi are there.
Regarding the black character of Maa Vagdevi’s idol, he told that this idol was brought from Tamil Nadu and the meaning of this idol can be extracted in such a way that this character of Maa Saraswati is black to protect our scriptures, Vedas and Puranas. . The way it is of Mata Kali. Apart from this, the style of the temple is also similar to that of South India. The temple is built in Dakshina style.
On the other hand, Santosh Kumar Dubey, assistant administrator of Maa Vagdevi temple, told that the forms of Dwadash Saraswati means the goddess of all kinds of learning. The temple is amazing from the pavilion to the peak. He told that parents take darshan of their children from this temple and start their studies in childhood.
